Dr. Montague, an occult scholar, has decided
to do a study of the effects that psychics and people who have experienced the
paranormal would have on a truly haunted house. Dr. Montague commissioned many
people to come to the house for a few months, but only got responses from two,
Theodora (Psychic) and Eleanor (experienced the paranormal as a child). He also
took along the young man that would inherit the house known as Hill House, Luke.
Their first night at the house things began to happen. As time went on, it seemed
that the house was targeting Eleanor. It wrote things on the wall, and tricked
her to climb up a very unsteady staircase. That almost killed both her and Montague.
Finally, the group decided that it was too dangerous to have her in the house
any longer. She claimed that the house wanted her, and she wanted the house.
She was sick of being alone and had nowhere else to go. When they tried to get
her to leave, she took matters into her own hands. On the way down the curving
road, she "lost control" of her car and ran it into a tree, and there she meet
her demise. She and the house got what they both wanted, a companion.
