Final Destination 3

Scare: Quality: Story: Overall:
Well, I reviewed the first two, so I guess I kind of have to review #3. Final Destination 3 - if you liked the first two, you'll like this one. In a completely unexpected plot twist, several kids escape death because one of them foresees it, and the main character runs around for rest of the movie trying, unsuccessfully, to prevent their deaths. This time around the kids escape from a killer roller coaster thanks to Wendy Christensen (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). In a new twist, Wendy has pictures of all the kids that were saved by her hysterics, and the pictures tell her how each person will die.
Like the previous two, Final Destination 3 is all about the deaths, and there are some good ones. I don't want to spoil the movie, but there are some blood-splattering crushings, losing of limbs, and a nice scene involving a hardware store. The acting is good - not award winning, but not so bad that it makes you wish it were the actors that were dying. Also, I believe this is the first Final Destination to include nudity - it didn't add anything to the plot, but it definitely wasn't unpleasant.
Final Destination writer/director James Wong returns in both roles, although I have to admit, I can't really tell a difference between numbers 1 and 3 and number 2. Noticeably absent is Candyman Tony Todd, who played the mortician in the first two, although if you listen closely, you can hear him as the voice at the entrance to the roller coaster. All in all, I found the movie entertaining, and if it's not worth buying, it's at least worth renting.
