"Someone's in my fruit cellar. Someone with a fresh soul." ~ Henrietta (Ted Raimi)

Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn

Scare: Quality: Story: Overall:
Our great hero Ash (Bruce Campbell of course) has stupidly returned to the remote cabin with another girlfriend with the same name (Linda). Well, another tape is found and Ash plays it again. As the passage on the tape is played, something wakes up in the forest. The passage is from the Necronomican again, so it release the evil dead again. This time, since it's just Ash and Linda, Linda is taken and possessed. Ash is forced to dismember her with a chainsaw. Anyway... now he's alone in the cabin and slowly going insane. Finally, the evil dead try to get him by going through his hand. Once his hand is possessed, Ash begins to get his ass kicked by his hand. Dishes, bricks, etc. are broken over his head until he falls unconscious. The hand tries to kill him, so Ash cuts it off at the wrist. From here he goes insane and begins to start hallucinating. Then he has a grand old time with the various inanimate objects of the cabin. Laughing with the books and the dear head and playing dancing games with the desk lamp. This is interrupted by a knock at the door. Enter four annoying people, two hicks and two preppies. Well, they attack Ash and throw him in the fruit cellar ( <- very important to the rest of the story). They listen to the rest of the tape only to find out that Annie's ( the preppie girl) father and mother are dead (they owned this cabin). The mother was possessed and buried in the fruit cellar! She comes back and from here everyone else becomes possessed, or dies in some other way, as Annie and Ash try to send the evil dead back to where they came from. They succeed somewhat (Annie dies) and Ash is mistakenly sent back with the evil dead to medieval England along with his car and chainsaw.
Once again we have to thank the minds of Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Bruce Campbell, but the real thanks and congrats goes out to Ted Raimi. Thanks for playing Henrietta (the possessed mother), Ted. The movie wouldn't have been the same without ya.
