According to the bible, Satan (Gabriel Byrne) will return to
Earth in 1000 years. Everyone has decided that this 1000 years will be the end
of this year. He is to return and consummate with a chosen girl (Robin Tunney)
and she is to have his child. And with all of that, the end of days will come,
everything as we know it will come to an end, and all Hell will literally break
loose.
Ok, so you get the idea. Well, Arnold Schwarzenegger is a cop
sort of person that sort of appoints himself to guard the chosen girl from not
only Satan, but members of the Catholic church too. As the movie goes on, things
get a bit confusing, but he still manages to defeat Satan and the millennium
comes with out a problem.
So, there's not much to the story, but I have to admit that I
liked it a lot better then I thought I would. I thought the only thing it had
going for it was Gabriel Byrne as Satan. He's just a great Satan, and if you
have seen "The Usual Suspects", then you just might get all of the bad jokes
and references to Kaiser Soze and other parts of that film.
Arnold did a good job too, and he was the part that I was doubting
the most. But there were some pretty good parts in this movie, and I would say
that it was pretty good. But always remember... "The greatest trick the devil
ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist." - Verbal, "The Usual
Suspects"
