This is a story of a scientist that has his life's work destroyed. After studying skin structures and such things, he had figured out how to create false skin. This would help many people (burn victims mostly). Then everything went wrong and his lab was destroyed and his assistant was killed. He was presumed dead, but barely survived. He was badly burned and disfigured, and used his creation to help himself. Seeing his life as destroyed, he decided that he was going to exact revenge. He used the loss of his face to his advantage and had the ability to wear other peoples faces if he could recreate them into the computer. He also reunited with his love, but he could never fully be with her again. He was disfigured and didn't think she could ever love him the way he was now when she expected the way everything was then. A lot changed in his life, and he chose to lead a lonely life, but became a hero.
