The Sixth Sense
Scare: Quality: Story: Overall:
The first thing I have to say about this movie is that it has the best child actor that I have ever seen. Haley Joel Osment plays Cole Sear, a child who has the ability to see dead people. This has made him antisocial, and logically so. Well, this movie starts out with Bruce Willis as Malcolm Crowe and Olivia Williams as his wife Anna. Willis is a child psychologist that just won an award for his work. Later that evening he is encountered with his one failure. Vincent Grey, played by Donnie Wahlberg (I was rather impressed myself). After shooting his former psychologist, Vincent then kills himself. Then we are flashed forward about 1 or 2 years or so.
Here Cole is introduced. Willis takes him on as sort of a resurrecting case considering that he failed Vincent (Wahlberg), The two boys are a lot alike, and Willis believes that he can help Vincent by helping Cole. As the movie goes, the audience is introduced to the child's horrifying world. He is encountered by a beaten wife, a gun curious teenager, and a very sick little girl. Willis decides that the ghosts want help from the boy, so they help the ghosts. We also discover that the school that Cole goes to used to be a courthouse or prison, and catch a glimpse of the gallows.
Well, as the film goes it takes us through many twists and turns, but none so big as the end. Oh!!!! And keep the bee pendent in mind if you haven't seen this movie. And I am forbidden to give away the end just in case someone who hasn't seen it is reading this. The most memorable thing about this movie is the acting of Haley Joel Osment. He did such a wonderful job. Anyway... as of 9/10/99, this movie was number one in the country. If you haven't seen it yet, then I suggest you go and find out why.
