Tim Curry
Born: April 19, 1946 in Grappenhall, Cheshire, England
Tim is the son of a Methodist Royal Navy chaplain and a school
secretary. He sang in the church choir as a soprano at the age of six. He began
his performing career when he began doing Shakespeare at the age of ten. He
studied drama and English at Cambridge and Birmingham University. He graduated
from Birmingham with Combined Honors. His first success as a professional was
in the London production of Hair (which also harbored the talent of Richard
O'Brien for all of my RHPS freaks out there). Tim appeared in Hair for fifteen
months from 1968 to early 1970. After Hair, he went on to study further and
worked in the Royal Court and Glasgow Civic Repertory Companies. Among Tim's
great talents, he has sung in opera's ( for example: he played Puck in A Midsummer
Night's Dream by Benjamin Brittan for the Scottish Opera Co.), he has costarred
in an evening of songs by Brecht-Weil at the Royal Court, and appeared in various
British theatrical productions (like: Galileo, The Sport of My Mad Mother, The
White Devil, Cinderella, England's Ireland, Not a Ghost of a Chance, Lay Down
I Think I Love You, And The Baby Elephant, just to name a few.
In the wonderful
year of 1973, one of the strangest musicals (and the most wonderful, audience
participation and all) hit the stage in the original production of Richard O-Brien's
Rocky Horror Show. Tim auditioned for the part of Dr. Frank N. Furter with Little
Richard's "Tutti Frutti" (I would have liked to see that one too). He later
stared in the screen version of Rocky Horror along with Susan Sarandon (Janet
/ Slut/ Bitch), Barry Bostwick (Brad / Asshole), Meatloaf (ex. Delivery Boy
Eddie), Little Nell (Columbia), Patricia Quinn (Magenta), and the master...
Richard O'Brien (Riff Raff) just to name a few.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
marked Tim Curry's movie debut. He then went back to the stages of New York,
Los Angeles and London. He stared in Love Letters, Travesties, Amadeus, The
Pirates of Penzance, The Rivals, Love for Love, Dalliance, The Threepenny Opera,
The Art of Success, and My Favorite Year, and he toured the US with Me and My
Girl. Some of his movies include The Shout, Times Square, Annie, The Ploughman's
Lunch, Clue, Legend, Pass the Ammo, The Hunt for Red October, Oscar, FernGully...the
Last Rainforest, Passed Away, The Player, Home Alone 2, National Lampoon's Loaded
Weapon 1, Disney's The Three Musketeers, The Shadow, The Pebble and the Penguin,
Congo, Muppet Treasure Island, Lover's Knot, McHale's Navy, and Rugrats: the
Movie. He also stared in the made for TV movie Stephen Kings It. There he played
Pennywise-the-Dancing-Clown that just so happens to also kill children. He has
also appeared in many cartoons such as: Duckman, Dr. Seuss' Daisy-Head Mayzie,
Abel's Island, Paddington Bear, The Legend of Prince Valiant, The Pirates of
Dark Water, Fish Police, Darkwing Duck, Captain Planet and the Planeteers, Don
Coyote, The Greatest Adventure - Stories from the Bible: The Creation and The
Easter Story, Tiny Toon Adventures, The Little Mermaid, Tom and Jerry Kids,
Dinosaurs, TaleSpin, The Wild West C.O.W.-Boys of Moo Mesa, Eeek the Cat, Aladdin,
Mighty Max, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, Batman, Animaniacs, Sonic the Hedgehog,
Superhuman Samurai Syber-squad,The Mask, The Mighty Ducks, Jumanji, Adventures
from The Book of Virtues episodes Courage and Responsibility, The Story of Santa
Claus, Freakazoid, Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas, A Christmas
Carol (1997), The Wild Thornberrys, Voltron: The Third Dimension, and Peter
Pan and the Pirates (he won an Emmy Award for that one). He also has recorded
a few books on tape like: Cry to Heaven and Taltos by Anne Rice, Jewels by Danielle
Steel, The Happy Prince by Oscar Wilde, and many others (if you want the entire
list, e-mail me). He is also in a few CD-ROM games. He provided the lead voice
in Gabriel Knight III: Blood of the Sacred, and Blood of the Damned. He also
did the voice of Kilrathi Melek in Wing Commander III. He is also the voice
of "Sir", the voice that introduces visitors to Alien Encounter at Tomarrowland
in Disney World. Currently, Tim Curry is keeping busy as usual and being very
hard to keep up with as you can see. Doing as much as he can it seems.
