Sam Neill

Born: September 14, 1947 in Northern Ireland

Sam Neill was born in Northern Ireland. His family returned to the South Island if New Zealand in 1954. He received his BA in English Literature. He worked with the New Zealand Players and other theater groups after he graduated from college. He also became a film director, editor and scriptwriter for the New Zealand National Film Unit for six years. His first film was "Sleeping Dogs" in 1977. After that he moved to Australia. Soon after he moved to England where he became famous for his role as the title character in "Reilly: The Ace of Spies" in 1983 (a mini). In the late 1980's he moved back to Australia and is now a world wide star, having achieved "commercial and critical success" with "Jurassic Park" and "The Piano" (both 1993)
